Meetings & Shifts

So far the pre-shock meeting went pretty well. We came up with a lot of bands and lot of ideas that could be used for pre-shock. Honestly i felt like we got a lot done in one meeting! I was made manager of C Stage, which is the mostly acoustic stage for the show itself, Pre-Shock. I'm actually really excited! I'm not sure what it means to be a stage manager, but i do know that i keep the bands happy and make sure they come on stage and perform on time and such. I have shifts from 9-11pm on Tuesdays and that works out fine for me. I have my fingerprint saved at the door and it will only open if it reads the correct finger! I have DJ training coming up and i'm excited to learn all the technical stuff. This week we're listening to bands for pre-shock and narrowing them down. Gonna be good!

Beginning

So I've started my position at WPSR Purchase Radio as an events promotion intern. My job is to help in the planning and the promotion of WPSR events, mainly our big event, Pre-Shock. I've been to pre-shock in the past and i don't quite remember too much from it.... other than it was fun. I'm in arts management and a class I took last semester really interested me in events promotion and fundraising (the class was of course called, Fundraising and Development in the Arts). The course itself and the teacher really helped me understand the basic ways in whcih you can reach people through technological means (mainly the internet) and how you can use what you know about the internet and your own social scene to spread the word about things and promote events. I also worked with my teacher for a project of hers called New Roc Rhapsody. I'm actually really excited about interning at WPSR, as it's probably the most fun i could possibly have at an internship. I get to go through DJ training and I'm an official staff member of the WPSR group. I've honestly before now never gotten a chance to listen to the station but i'm going to take this opportunity to get involved in the cool things my school produces.
